Hendriks is the largest company specialised in wheelchair accessible transport in Belgium. Unlike most similar companies, Hendriks converts its own minibuses, using the TriflexAIR seating and flooring system.

“Almost 30 years ago we decided to convert minibuses ourselves, because the quality of wheelchair accessible vehicles available in the market was very poor”, says Jan Hendriks, CEO.  “Since two years we use the TriflexAIR kits to convert our minibuses to wheelchair accessible vehicles.”

Hendriks’ fleet consists of 180 vehicles. The company works among others for hospitals, day care centres, schools and insurance companies throughout Flanders and Wallonia. To renew and expand its fleet, Hendriks converts 50 minibuses a year. “With this volume, it’s worth the effort to do it ourselves. Besides its robust quality, the main advantage of the TriflexAIR system is  the ease of installation.”

Passenger comfort and safety is Hendriks’ key value , though. “Our passengers are mainly people who need extra care and attention. This requires dedicated and well-trained drivers. To ensure that drivers are up to the task, they are also tested for their social skills. Throughout their career, they are retrained and reviewed by peers.”

It is this combination of high service and safe and comfortable wheelchair accessible minibuses, which counts for Tax Hendriks’ position as market leader. “We are not the cheapest taxi company in Belgium, but throughout our existence we have always valued the quality of our vehicles and service more than anything else.”
